EAO Gather: Young Salesians Unite in Hua Hin for Renewal and Reflection

A week-long formative encounter strengthens early ministry and fosters fraternity among East Asia–Oceania Salesians

HUA HIN, Thailand – The serene coastal town of Hua Hin is currently hosting the Joint Formative Encounter of Salesian Quinquennials for the East Asia–Oceania Region, bringing together young Salesian priests and brothers in their first five years of ministry for a week dedicated to renewal, reflection, and fraternal sharing.

From March 16 to 20, 2026, participants from across the region are engaged in a dynamic formation program that integrates prayer, pastoral reflection, and community dialogue. This initiative underscores the importance of accompaniment and ongoing formation in sustaining vocation and mission. The gathering is guided by Br. Raymond Callo from the Formation Sector in Rome.

Throughout the week, sessions focus on processing pastoral experiences, personal accompaniment, and developing concrete life plans. These reflective moments enable young confreres to deepen their understanding of contemporary ministry challenges while reaffirming their commitment to Don Bosco’s charism.

A significant highlight is the anticipated online address by the Rector Major, the successor of Don Bosco, who is scheduled to offer guidance and encouragement for their missionary journey.

Shared prayer, small-group discussions, and cultural exchanges are fostering a strong sense of unity and fraternity among participants. This gathering exemplifies the Salesian Congregation’s commitment to ongoing formation, recognizing the first years of ministry as both delicate and decisive in shaping a lifelong dedication to the young.

As the program continues, the encounter in Hua Hin serves as a living testimony of hope: young Salesians, rooted in the spirit of Don Bosco, are being formed not only for service within their local contexts but also for a mission that is increasingly global, interconnected, and attentive to the needs of today’s youth.

Coinciding with this formative encounter, Hua Hin is abuzz with other significant events. The Hua Hin Wine Expo 2026, scheduled for March 19–20, promises a larger, more refined experience, aligning with the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors. Additionally, the Amari Hua Hin Skins Golf Week, running from March 15–20, offers golf enthusiasts an opportunity to play on some of Hua Hin's top courses, including Pineapple Valley Golf Club, Black Mountain, and Palm Hills Golf Club.

These concurrent events highlight Hua Hin's vibrant community and its capacity to host diverse gatherings, from spiritual retreats to international expos and sporting events, making it a dynamic destination for visitors and locals alike.
